Responsibilities
Other responsibilities include:
- Personnel matters; employing, training hiring and firing of staff.
- Programme operations.
- Overseeing actions set in motion by the BofD and represents the direct management, active and executive aspect of the BofD (which is mostly a decision making body).
- Directing programmes according to the stipulations and rules of each programme's Business Plan as sanctioned by the BofD.
- Directing programmes, volunteers and personnel according to directives from the Constitution, Bylaws and the Board of Directors.
- Reporting to the Board of Directors.

The Board of Directors appoint an appropriately qualified, remunerated, full-time Executive Officer to report to the Board of Directors, through the President of the Board of Directors.
Below are extracts from the Constitution that explains the basis of the Executive Director's tasks.
Section 16.01 of the Constitution prescribes the following duties for the Chief Executive Officer. (please note: this extract may differ from the Constitution)
- The Executive Director shall direct and manage the day to day operations of the various programmes and projects run by The House.
- The Executive Director, working within the parameters, powers and restrictions of his or her task description and the various business plans of the projects, and the prescribed budgets of The House, shall, among other duties described in her or his task description or mandate, employ personnel, volunteers and consultants to execute the tasks at hand.
- Over and above other tasks the Executive Director facilitates administration, bookkeeping, budgets, and produces project performance reports and claim forms, reports to the Board of Directors at every regular meeting, and facilitates staff training and directs programmes according to predetermined business plans, budgets and project proposals.
- The Executive Director shall be an ex-officio, non-voting member of the Board of Directors and shall attend all regular meetings of the Board of Directors to report on the progress of each programme and project under her or his jurisdiction.
Report on each project run by The House, enabling the Board of Directors to accurately evaluate the performance of each project.
- Attend meetings of Committees by request and shall work closely with all Standing Committees, seeking implement and execute tasks, systems and operation manuals passed by the Board of Directors and its Standing Committees.
