Encouraging public discussion and involvement in the issues we deal with

We maintain a separate web site on the Members Only Web for internal, program specific discussions and notes. ==> Go To Forums

Common sense rules and ethics for public forums

  • Respect the fact that others may have different views and opinions than your own. This is a wide world, and each one of us speaks from within a particular context, and each one of us can hardly say we 'have walked a mile' in another's shoes. Try to be pleasant and polite.
  • Never flame someone for a post you do not agree with. If you must answer, keep it polite and brief. Flaming tends to attract the negative and terribly opinionated people who visit such boards simply for the audience it 'promises' them.
  • Request the administrator of the board to remove offensive material, warn offensive users, and perhaps ban abusers.
  • Never post personal information that can be abused by hackers and persons of ill intent. If you have to share such information , do so in private emails or by telephone.
  • Keep your participation up. This is for a worthy cause and your participation is neccesary. This is the only way to ensure an online community does not wither and die away within a few weeks.
  • Once you have established yourself, make yourself available to admin a forum, or suggest new forums, and assist in keeping it alive and interesting.
  • Never post commercial advertisements. Any user that abuses a forum by placing commercial advertisements, or spam, will be tracked down and his/her passport to the Internet Galaxy will be revoked, for up to four generations hence.

Forum 1: Requirements Discussion

We use this forum to record suggestions about requirements to serve the needs of Girl Children on the Street and street children in general. The forum is an open forum on topics such as, what services should or shouldn't be provided, areas of need, and suggestions.  It also allows participants to engage in a public dialog regarding the merits of various requests and ideas for service enhancement. Anyone is welcome to submit suggestions.

Topics include, good sources of information, information on NGO management, and anything else that people in the project or interested in similar areas would find generally useful.
