Helping Homeless Youth Survive
South Africa's homeless youth are grossly under serviced by government agencies and are therefore forced to survive by their own devices. Homelessness of children and youth in South Africa is on the increase, due in part to HIV/Aids, poverty, perceived (or relative) poverty, the breakdown in family structures, breakdown of values, and violent crimes.

Each one of us discovered The House through some media or internet article. We could understand plight of the girls and started to volunteer whatever we could offer. Now, thirteen years later, the first girls we once saved from brothels in 1991 are today between twenty five and thirty years-old, most are married, have families of their own -and did not end up in torture, sex slavery or in the Johannesburg morgue like so many thousands of other girls we could not get to.
